Davide De Carli has given more details on Lucas Coenen’s leg injury from Foxhill as the brave Belgian seeks to keep his MXGP world title hopes alive in Loket where the 19 year old qualified in 12th position despite this crash:
Speaking to Lisa Leyland, Davide said: “Of course it’s a struggle. He wanted to try and race to collect points, it’s really important for the season. After the crash (at Foxhill) he has inflammation of the sciatic nerves and on the pelvic area also as well. He is doing his best to perform well but it is not going to be easy.”
Under those circumstances, Coenen did well to even qualify 12th in timed qualifying, but will he be able to run the race pace and get points today and tomorrow? With Jeffrey Herlings quickest in the timed qualifying session and just 11 points behind, the Belgian will have to fight the pain to maintain his MXGP title challenge this weekend.
