Denmark’s Motor Union is proud to present Thomas Kjer Olsen as the new national coach for the motocross national team. With an impressive international career and a deep understanding of the sport, Thomas brings a unique combination of experience, commitment and knowledge that will undoubtedly be a great gain for Danish motocross. Head of Sports at DMU, Søren Andersen, comments on the appointment:
“DMU is incredibly happy to be able to associate Thomas Kjer Olsen as national coach in motocross. It is some big shoes to step on after Emil Kosar Larsen, but as a driver Thomas has tried most things himself and knows what it takes to be successful. We are therefore convinced that Thomas is the right choice. We currently have a number of talented drivers that we are sure Thomas can help take to the next level”.
Thomas Kjer Olsen has for many years been one of Denmark’s most prominent motocross riders and has achieved great results worldwide, including several podium positions in the MX2 World Championship. His transition from active rider to national coach marks the start of an exciting new phase in both his own career and in the development of motocross in Denmark.
With Thomas at the head of the national team, the Danish motocross riders will have the opportunity to learn from one of the best in the industry, which should help strengthen talent development and ensure success on the international stage.
Thomas Kjer Olsen is happy about the opportunity and looks forward to picking up the baton after Emil Larsen:
“After my crash, I have had time to reflect, and it has taken time to find myself on top of that experience. All the energy I have previously put into motocross, I will now use to coach others, which I am very much looking forward to. I have realized how much I really know about the sport, and the experience I have, I want to pass on to other riders as best I can. Emil has been a fantastic national coach, and if I can do as well as him, I will be satisfied. When the torch is to be passed on, I am happy to pick it up.
I will focus on getting the absolute most out of each rider individually. I know that no two drivers are the same, so I will focus on tailoring plans and focus points for each rider.”
Thomas will until his official accession on 1/1 – 2025 follow Emil Kosar Larsen closely, to ensure a good handover. Denmark’s Motor Union looks forward to the close collaboration and is convinced that Thomas Kjer Olsen will inspire and motivate our Danish motocross riders to bet big and compete at the highest level.
