Camden McLellan has been strong in the MX2 World Championship this year on the new Triumph machine and has already stood on the podium.

However, the tough conditions during qualifying in Portugal did not go according to plan for the new brand.

McLellan suffered a late crash in the qualifying race and whilst Triumph haven’t yet confirmed the injury, we believe he has broken his fibula. The injury is not yet to be confirmed but we’ll keep you updated as and when it’s made official.

Mikkel Haarup didn’t’ have the best of days either after a few crashes so could only finish in sixteenth giving him a bad gate pick for what is expected to be more tricky conditions on race day meaning a start will be important.

Triumph posted the following update on social media:

“A tough day in the office for the boys in Agueda. Mikkel brought his TF 250-X home in P16 after few tip-offs, and a big fight through the field on the super-tough racetrack. Unfortunately a crash late in today’s qualifying race will put Camden on the sidelines for tomorrow’s Grand Prix”.
