Alessandro Lupino confirms he’ll be a Factory rider in 2022

Since making the step up to contest the MXGP World Championship in 2015, Alessandro Lupino has been part of the Assomotor Honda, Gebben van Venrooy Racing team and most recently the Marchetti KTM team. It was an impressive season for the Italian finishing tenth in the MXGP World Championship and the highest placed non-factory bike.

There’s been strong rumours that Lupino will sign with the Factory Beta team for the 2022 season and while Lupino couldn’t confirm the team he’s signed a deal with for the upcoming season, he did tell us he’d race with a Factory team next year – for the first time in his MXGP career.

Lupino was part of the Factory CLS Kawasaki team in MX2 but it’ll be nice for him to work with a factory in MXGP and a nice way to end his career – but he still hopes to race for at least three more years.

“It will be nice to have a factory bike in my life or at least work with a factory company because unfortunately I’ve never had this opportunity in MXGP. My plan was to finish my career soon but I think I will do at least three more years and then I’ll put a stop to it. I’m 30 and then I’ll be 33 but we will see what happens in the future”, Lupino told GateDrop.com.
