Albin Gerhardsson secures MXGP ride

Due to the injury of Nicholas Lapucci, the SDM Corse Husqvarna team have been on the look out for a fill in rider. The team have looked to Sweden to sign up Albin Gerhardsson who has been given a great opportunity to race the rest of the MXGP World Championship events that take place in Europe.

At domestic level, Gerhardsson has been having a good season in Sweden as he currently has the red plate in the Swedish MX1 championship and will now be looking to learn from the best 450cc riders in the world.

Gerhardsson will make his debut with his new team this weekend in France and with Lapucci expected to be out of action until September, will stay with the Italian based team for the rest of the season.

“SDM Corse Husqvarna reached out to me and gave me this chance to race the MXGP World Championship for them to fill in for injured Lapucci. I’m very happy for this opportunity and looking forward to racing and do my best at the biggest stage of motocross”, Gerhardsson told GateDrop.com.
