Race One: Haiden Deegan fought the pain and a very fast Jo Shimoda who passed Deegan for the lead but got re-passed by a determined Deegan who eeked out two seconds in the final couple of laps to secure the win. He talks the talk but he walks the walk (with limp right now)
Deegan said: “That was a challenging moto mentally, the pain, it is what it is. I saw some of his (Shimoda’s) lines and had to banzai down that hill!”
Jeremy Martin took an inspired third after taking a holeshot that set the crowd alight and the former 250 champ hung on strong for third in a brilliant ride and memorable end to his career! Mikkel Haarup had one of his best rides gating sixth and hanging with the leaders pace for half the race and taking fourth.
Seth Hammaker’s race started perfectly after he passed Martin for the lead at the end of the first lap but then crashed out of the lead and then unfortunately crashed again out of fifth near the end of the moto and needed medical attention.
It’s the hometown boy out front! 🥇

Unbelievable!

A teary Martin said: “I was definitely tired after moto one, we made a suspension adjustment and I was on rails. I was wed wacking, last week I had five days on the bike. To do it in front of my mfamily and friends, I was hurting in that moto, i said I have five laps, you can dig in. This is the drug, in retirement I struggle. My parents have put 35 years of blood, sweat and tears into this place. You have no idea how much this means.”
What a way to go out! 🫡

Haiden Deegan took second to win the overall and immediately gave Martin a hug of congratulations as Mikkel Haarup took third in a great ride, he was the fastest rider on the track early in the race but couldn’t find his way by a very determined Martin! Shimoda held on without his rear brake for fourth, passing Swoll back at the end to take third on the podium just two points ahead of Haarup.
