450cc race results: AMA Nationals RD9 – Lawrence clinches title at Unadilla

Race One: It was Harri Kullas and Jett Lawrence side by side after the first corner with the young Aussie taking the lead going into turn two but Chase Sexton was on the move. The American was actually looking faster and got the gap down but then tagged Jett trying to make a pass meaning he had to close the gap again. He did start to catch but then crashed which allowed Dylan Ferrandis into second. The French rider was flying and wasn’t far off Jett but Lawrence was able to stay composed to take yet another win – that’s 17-0 so far. Harri Kullas rode well to finish seventh on his Yamaha with Stephen Rubini caught up in a first lap pile up but he came from last to twentieth.

Race Two: Normal service was resumed for Lawrence in the second moto as he was leading on the first lap and despite Sexton getting into second quickly, in this moto Lawrence rode more like himself and pulled away to dominate. Ferrandis had a shocking start and by the time he got into third the front two were gone. Kullas took another cracking start and another strong seventh position. By going 1-1 Lawrence kept up his unbeaten record but also clinched the championship as a rookie – a superb season!
