250cc race results: AMA Nationals RD7 – Lawrence wins at Spring Creek

Race One: Jo Shimoda got a great start on his Kawasaki and was pulling away at the front looking superb. However, Hunter Lawrence who didn’t get a good start buried down in around ninth made a number of passes to get into second – he closed down around a seven seconds gap and was all over Shimoda with three to go. He was finally able to make a move stick to take a very impressive win. RJ Hampshire didn’t get the best of starts but recovered well for third ahead of Star Yamaha duo Justin Cooper and Haiden Deegan. Tom Vialle started in the top five but looked to struggle with the fast track the first ten minutes before starting to find his groove. He had Deegan and Cooper just ahead of him before a crash finishing sixth.

Race Two: Lawrence got a good start and dominated at the front pulling away from Justin Cooper who was in a lonely second ahead of Shimoda. However, with just over a lap to go, Lawrence who was cruising at the front made a mistake trying to get around backmarkers dropping him to second and after holding off Shimoda looked to be nursing a sore wrist. Kitchen rode better than in the first moto to finish fourth ahead of Vialle. Deegan didn’t get a good start and could only get back to eighth losing championship points.
