250cc race results: AMA Nationals RD6 – Vialle wins at Southwick

Race One: It was Justin Cooper who grabbed the holeshot but Tom Vialle was very aggressive around the first couple of corners. He was fifth but quickly got himself into second with the front two then pulling away at the front. Cooper had a two second lead but Vialle was knocking on the door and then the American crashed out of the lead. Hunter Lawrence didn’t get the best of starts but worked his way into fourth before a mechanical issue meaning a DNF. Haiden Deegan should have lost championship points but ended up fourth thanks to Lawrences DNF.

Vialle said: “I’m so happy. I had some struggles at the beginning of the season. That moto feels good. The track, I really like it.”

Race Two: Vialle took a Prado like start out of the gate to lead the opening lap but had Jo Shimoda for company as the pair pulled away from the rest of the pack. Shimoda made a move and started to pull away at the front. Vialle wasn’t riding with the same flow as race one and then Cooper caught and passed him with RJ Hampshire on his back wheel. Cooper actually had caught Shimoda for the lead and just as he looked like making the move lost the front. Vialle dug deep to hold off Hampshire to take his first overall win in America. Lawrence had a terrible gate pick and didn’t get a good start but ended up eighth with Deegan tenth. Deegan takes the red plate heading to round seven with only five points in the championship chase.

Vialle commented: “Was a tough one, I love the track it was so fun. First win, it took time, we can start from now on and go ahead.”
