Eli Tomac has spoken to Donn Maeda at Swapmoto and revealed that it is so far so good on the KTM, the first time he has ridden a steal frame since he was an amateur!

The big news was of course that Eli will use a cable clutch not a hydraulic that KTM come with, it is a sign of just how commited KTM are to Tomac as they bid to win the supercross title they narrowly lost with Sexton in 2025

Tomac told Donn it has been so far so good on the KTM: “It’s been a good start for us. I feel like it’s a good platform to start with. And for the couple of days we’ve had, it’s been very, very nice. There’s like some good attributes about this motorcycle. And of course, you try to learn things and whatnot.

“I could not pass the opportunity to work with with Ian and Roger. We’ve been these fierce competitors for basically forever. So now, to get to work with them, it’s a very exciting time.

My favorite thing about this bike right now is the triangle, the rider, the rider triangle. So from foot peg to bars to my seat, how I just sit on the motorcycle is is really nice. And then also the width of the bike is really nice.I can squeeze the bike well. I feel like a lot of the manufacturers are actually getting too skinny. And this bike for me, I can I can use my legs and and use the power of my legs to really control the bike. And in that with the with the triangle, how I’m fitting on the motorcycle is my favorite.

On why he is still on a cable clutch at KTM, Eli said: “I favour it for the slip window and how I control it up the ramps and even like in a seat bounce situation for Supercross. I I’m just I have a finger on the clutch most of the time. And for me, it’s it’s an easier way to control for my riding style, a better slip window versus a hydraulic.”
