Shane McElrath took off like a scalded cat in his first race of his full-time 450 career in the MCR Honda! The former 250 title contender holeshot and rode fantastic to hold off Eli Tomac for a few laps before the defending champ, eventually made the move. With the adrenaline high, McElrath finished second Ando after qualifying 7th, it was no doubt a big boost to his confidence.
The 20 minute main proved tougher, especially with his lack of race fitness following the shoulder injury with McElrath finishing 17th – but he knows and has now proven the speed is there!
