It has now been confirmed that van Essen will stay with the team for the rest of the season competing in the remaining four rounds.
“I got a call from Patrik the team coordinator the Friday of the GP of Agueda if I wanted to do the rest of the EMX Open races and didn’t hesitate and we agreed the same evening. It feels really good to be with the team atmosphere is good and I’m feeling right at home”, van Essen told GateDrop.com.
“I am definitely not happy with the result at Arco, but I only rode the bike two times before the race and wasn’t super comfortable yet and my last EMX race was November 2020 in lommel so couldn’t really expect much. I am really happy with the progress we made during the weekend and still making now”.
“The goal for the rest of the season will proving to myself I still have it in me and enjoy it all. I want to thank the whole JWR Honda team for this opportunity and their hard work”.
