It’s set to be a big weekend for French talent, Tom Vialle. The two time MX2 World Champion, had his rookie year racing in America last year getting to grips with Supercross. It hasn’t took him long as it’s his second year racing SX and he has the red plate heading to the final Supercross round of the season.
Vialle has a points cushion of 15 points over Haiden Deegan in the championship chase so an 11th position or better will secure him his first Supercross title.
The KTM rider was speaking to the media ahead of the finale this weekend taking place at Salt Lake City.
On his thoughts heading into the final round…
I am feeling comfortable on the track. Last year I was coming to a Supercross track and for the races especially, not scared… but I didn’t know what to do, actually. I feel like this year I am way more confident and I am feeling way better on the bike.
On being good at having the red plate as he has experience carrying one whilst racing the MX2 World Championship too…
I would say it is really different compared to Europe. This series is twenty races during the season but here we only have like nine or ten Supercross rounds. It’s different. I mean you can’t really make a lot of mistakes.
I think after my win in Daytona and especially my win in Birmingham, I was like okay, I can fight for the championship. I was feeling way more confident and after those two wins I was trying to fight every weekend for another win. I have been really consistent since Daytona, I would say.
On his strategy going into the final round…
I mean, you never know, especially in Supercross, anything can happen. I am just going to race it like another race, I would say. My start was really bad last weekend so I’ve been working on my starts. I really want to have a really good start and my goal is to fight at the front. Hopefully I can keep my momentum from Philadelphia and of course I want to fight for the win this weekend.
