Tim Gajser – looking forward to racing!

Defending world champ, Tim Gajser, talks to Paul Malin ahead of the opening round of the 2021 MXGP World championship and he says he isn’t thinking about the pressure of defending the title – but knows it’s there!

“The off-season went really well, a really long off-season, basically half a year, but everything went really well,” said the HRC Honda rider. “I am really happy with the bike and how I am, and I am looking forward to go racing. I mean of course there is always pressure as defending champion, but I try not to think about that, and everyone starts from zero. I will just try and enjoy every weekend and try and do my best. I will try and be consistent.

“It was a weird season and something new for everyone, having two GPs then a break and having to start up again,” said Gajser on last year’s format. “Racing three times in a week, just the one-day format, but in the end with more races I was getting more comfortable and more used to it.

After building an impressive new practice track, Tim says having his own facility makes things a lot easier to organise: “ When you have your own track, you can do your own schedule, like ride in the morning or the afternoon and we have the workshop at the track, so it is way easier.”
