Rumour: SM Action to run Fantic MX2 GP efforts in 2024?

Italian based team, SM Action Racing have ran a number of manufactures in the past including Yamaha, GasGas and this year they’ve been running KTM machinery. We believe the team will change brands yet again for the 2024 season and will run the Fantic setup in the MX2 World Championship as well as potentially running riders in the EMX250 series.

Currently, Maddii Racing are running the Fantic setup in the MX2 World Championship as well as EMX but with Tom Guyon getting injured it hasn’t been the season they’d have wanted. Hakon Osterhagen who just returned to racing has raced the last two MX2 GP’s for the team but it remains to be seen if he’ll race the rest of the rounds or only the rounds that don’t clash with the EMX250 series. Maddii Racing are also expected to make the switch to Ducati in 2024 to race the Italian Championships and selected MXGP World Championship events.

Alberto Forato who has improved leaps and bounds over the past couple of years is currently with the SM Action KTM team and if the team do make the anticipated switch to Fantic, it is likely the Italian will switch teams for the year ahead.

We’ll have to wait and see what riders the SM Action team run in 2024 but all things are pointing to them making the switch to Fantic and they’ll be hoping to run at the front of the MX2 World Championship.
