Ken Roczen beat Eli Tomac to the fastest time in Q1 at Indy by a tenth of a second before explaining that he felt the track was “brutal” with how quickly the ruts are developing and the German says he expects a tough main event with the track conditions detoriating so quickly.

Dylan Ferrandis was back on the pace after a tough H3 to finish the session in sixth but last week’s winner, Cooper Webb, was back in 12th.

Christian Craig continued his good form with the quickest time in the 250 class from Colt Nicholls and Jett Lawrence third despite a crash.
