Cooper Webb has answered the call for team USA when they needed him most. In a surprising but actually not unsurprising move when you unpack it, the 2016 250 National champ Cooper Webb is going to Matterley Basin for Star Yamaha not their current 250 champ, Haiden Deegan!
Deegan reiterated again in the press conference in Texas that he would not replace the very unfortune Hymas if he couldn’t race and he didn’t even know himself who team USA should pick… but it wasn’t going to be him as the team elected to get his wrist sorted for 2025.
But Steve Matthes said Deegan had the final say….
If Deegan wanted to go to MXDN, they would be going. Everything else said is a smoke show. https://t.co/2mBin2LAOF

So up steps Cooper Webb, who ironically rode a 450 when he was a 250 rider for team USA and is now riding a 250 as 450 rider for his country – whatever it takes for the star spangled banner.
Heart, determination and a clutch performer under massive pressure means Webb, when you think about it, probably is the best choice with Kawasaki not supporting the even so Kitchen not an option. Webb has experience of the race, had his best outdoor results on a 250 and loves a scrap.
Cooper Webb is 450 and 250 AMA champ, he’s a gamer and the ultimate competitor. If he smells blood he will go for the kill. Webb is a big name that will add a lot of intrigue and some extra star power to the biggest event of the year.
Don’t count him out. He usually finds a way to deliver. Respect.
