Race results: MX2 World Championship RD3 – Argentina – Vialle victorious

In the opening MX2 moto of the day it was Tom Vialle who took the holeshot ahead of Jago Geerts. The Factory KTM rider was looking good with a gap of around two and a half seconds but with four laps to go Geerts pulled the pin. The Belgian caught Vialle in a couple of laps and then made the move with two to go – a statement win!

Behind them, Kay de Wolf and Simon Laengenfelder were battling for third before both crashed at the same time and it looked a big one for the Dutch talent. That left the door open for Kevin Horgmo who looked to have third in the bag before a mistake with two to go which promoted Mattia Guadagnini to third ahead of Mikkel Haarup who rode superb – he previously crashed out of fifth and made plenty of passes.

In the second moto it was Tom Vialle who showed his determination. In the early stages it was Geerts who held the lead but Vialle made an early pass and pulled away at the front to win his first GP of the season.

Mikkel Haarup didn’t get the best of starts but was running very fast lap times and made plenty of passes – he made a move on Guadagnini to take third step of the podium but it was nice to see the Italian at the sharp end after a difficult start to the season.
