Jorge Prado rode an immaculate race at the front of the MXGP qualifying race. He got the holeshot and simply dominated proceedings at the front. It was Tim Gajser who was second in what is his best ride since making his MXGP return ahead of Jeremy Seewer. Jeffrey Herlings was fourth and locked in a battle with Romain Febvre for most of the race. The KRT rider did make a move but then a couple of laps later lost the front going down so had to do it all over again. The French rider then made a costly mistake towards the ending stalling it meant he had to settle for fourth.
