Slovenia has officially confirmed their rider lineup for the 2025 Motocross of Nations, set to take place at Ironman Raceway in America this October. Traditionally, Slovenia does not send a team when the event is staged outside Europe, but this year they have decided to make an exception – much to the delight of fans.
The inclusion of Tim Gajser is a major boost for both the event and Team Slovenia. The five-time World Champion doesn’t usually get the chance to line up at the MXoN on American soil, so his participation will be a special occasion for the local crowd, as well as the many fans who will travel to see him in action.
Joining Gajser in the Open class will be Jan Pancar. The privateer standout has been one of the most talked-about riders in the MXGP paddock thanks to his impressive performances without full factory backing. This will actually be Pancar’s first-ever trip to America, offering him a brand-new racing experience on one of the world’s biggest motocross stages.
In MX2, Slovenia will once again rely on Jaka Peklaj, who also formed part of the squad in 2024. Peklaj has solid EMX and MX2 GP experience and earned his selection after impressing in a test day organised by the national federation.
“It was simple a choice for Tim Gajser and Jan Pancar to get selected. We needed to have a compromise for the MX2 rider which involved a test day. It was between three candidates but on the day Jaka Peklaj was the best and therefore got selected for the MX2 class.” Team manager, Saso Kragelj told GateDrop.com.
Slovenia will head to Ironman with the same lineup as last year, bringing consistency and growing confidence to the squad after finishing seventh last year.
Fans will also remember Gajser’s sensational pass on Jett Lawrence at the 2024 MXoN in Matterley Basin – one of the standout moments of the event. He’ll be hoping for more of the same this October as Slovenia look to make their mark on American soil.
Team Slovenia is as follows:
MXGP – Tim Gajser
Open – Jan Pancar
MX2 – Jaka Peklaj
