Official: Ireland name new MXoN team manager for 2026 – WON’T race Ironman

Ireland have announced they have named a new team manager for the Motocross des Nations squad in the form of Adam Lyons.

Lyons has plenty of experience in the sport and has raced the event in the past for Ireland so knows exactly what the event is all about.

However, they have confirmed they won’t be sending a team to Ironman to contest the event in 2025 so preparations will begin to send a team to Ernee, France in 2026.

The MCUI Motocross commission met on Tuesday April 8 last to discuss the‬ 2025 Irish Motocross teams and the 2025 Irish Motocross championship.‬

Motocross of Nations‬:

‭It was decided due to the anticipated expenses required to compete at the MXDN in Indiana,‬ USA this October, that Ireland will not be sending a team.‬

‭A team manager was appointed for 2026 where the event is expected to be held in Europe.‬ The Commission thanked the outgoing manager Mark Mooney for his hard work and dedication‬ over the past three years where he presented Team Ireland at the highest professional level.‬ Unfortunately due to family commitments, Mark has had to step down from this position.‬

The Commission welcomes Adam Lyons as the new team manager where he will concentrate‬ on preparing for the 2026 Motocross des Nations. Adam has competed for Ireland at the Des‬ Nations in the past and will bring his experience and expertise to the team.‬
