After Chase Sexton had to pull out of the final SMX round due to a hand injury after getting accidently landed on by Justin Barcia, Lewis Phillips tweeted that Roger DeCoster told him if Sexton can’t race and Tomac doesn’t want to replace him, team USA may not attend the MXoN at Matterley Basin!
Roger just told me that if Chase is out and Eli is not willing to step up, Team USA should cancel their plans and not race!

Tomac had said he did want to go but, after Plessinger beat him at the final outdoor round, Tomac felt AP had earned his place in the team alongside Sexton and took himself out of the running.
Since then, Chance Hymas pulled out with injury and Haiden Deegan continued to rule himself out, so, a late call went to Cooper Webb who said yes to filling in on the MX2 machine. Now, another late call might have to go into another Star Yamaha rider, this time Eli Tomac.
Let’s hope Tomac agrees to represent his country, just like teammate Cooper Webb, if the unfortunate Chsse Sexton can’t make it. Tomac racing MXoN keeps the star power in team USA and gives them a shot to win just like Sexton would if fit.
Huge problems for Sexton! 🤯
