Nancy van de Ven – hanging up her MX boots!

It has been announced that the 2022 WMX champion, Nancy van de Ven has decided to retire from the sport. The Dutch talent put a lot of hard work and effort into her career finally landing the WMX title last year but picked up a big injury this year early in the season ruling her out for the season. 

Van de Ven has made the very tough decision that she will be retiring from the sport – we would like to wish her all the best for her future. 

Yamaha posted the following statement on social media: 

A career to be proud of. Nancy van de Ven’s never-give-up attitude has inspired us all. However, every journey has its limits, and today, the former World Champion wishes to announce that she has made the difficult decision to hang up her boots.

Nancy’s journey in racing has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment she started her professional career in 2013, her talent and determination shone through. During the past decade, she achieved an impressive 7 #WMX World Championship medals, a testament to her speed and dedication.

Despite facing countless setbacks, she never lost sight of your dream of becoming a World Champion. And in 2022, she finally reached that pinnacle, proving that perseverance and resilience can lead to the sweetest victories. She deserved every bit of success.

Throughout her career, she has encountered unimaginable challenges. Yet, time and time again, she rose above them, dusted herself off, and got back on the bike, ready to win again. Her fighting spirit and refusal to give in have been an inspiration to us all.

Thank you, Nancy, for the incredible memories you have given us. It has been one heck of a ride, and you can be proud of all that you have accomplished. We are proud of you too. All the best for your future.
