A ticked off Max Anstie, after effectively being robbed of a win thanks to a red flag and a new rule, that forced a staggered start that previously would have meant the end of race, led to Kitchen passing Anstie on the restart and Anstie calling out his boss on the podium!
Anstie said on the podium: “Bobby Regan the team boss called earlier and said that somehow I said I didn’t expect to win, I don’t know where he got that from. If he’s not going to show up to the races don’t bother calling me anymore! I expect to do what I’m doing.”

Anstie was then asked in the press conference about his comments and he admitted he rang Bobby straight after!
“He loves it. It’s a new relationship with Bobby. He called me, he’s not here this weekend, trying to get me fired up. Saying, you didn’t expect to win last week but we are here to win! To be honest it worked, I was fired up! So, I said that on the podium and I was like, “did I take it too far?’ So then I called him and he said, ‘Boy that was awesome, I did my job! I wanted to get you fired up!’
“At the end of the day, we all want to win and we are all passionate about being the best we can be. I have a team that has won a lot of championships. It’s navigating different personalities. Last week everyone was saying you are so great at interviews, light hearted and happy. That one was slightly different on the podium, I’m not always going to put on a show and be fake or anything. I was a bit pissed off at the time but Bobby loved it, me and Bobby are cool. The team are great, it was just his way of getting me fired up. I guess!”
