The 2026 MXGP FIM Motocross World Championship fires into its first European round this weekend, as the new Circuito di Motocross di Almonte venue holds the MXGP of Andalucia in the south-western corner of Spain, near the beautiful coast of the Gulf of Cádiz!
Five-time World Champion Jeffrey Herlings lines up with the red plate for the first time since October 2021 after a commanding victory for Honda HRC Petronas at the opening round in Argentina, but the Qualifying Race winner Tom Vialle sits equal on points with his teammate, and the pair of them are just three points ahead of Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s defending World Champion Romain Febvre as we head to Almonte! The Frenchman won the last GP in Spain in 2025, but Herlings has won the most of any active rider in this country, with four GP wins to the Dutchman’s name under the Spanish sun!
Kay de Wolf will make his MXGP class debut after thumb injury meant he had to miss the opening round in Argentina.
