Danish talent Bertram Thorius made a dream start to his EMX125 campaign, delivering an outstanding performance at the opening round of the championship. Competing in his first EMX125 race with the Fantic factory setup—Thorius impressed with both resilience and speed, securing third overall and taking a superb race win to announce himself on the European stage.
“The first race I got a really bad start – I was like 30th around the first corner and I made my way up to seventh but I had a small crash so I finished eight, that was okay,” Thorius explained.
Things came together perfectly in race two. From the moment he hit the front, Thorius controlled the race with confidence, showing maturity to secure his first EMX125 race victory.
“The second race I got a better start and took the lead. I just rode really good and took the race win from there.”
Even he admitted the result came as a surprise. The emotion was clear after a breakthrough performance that validated the hard work behind the scenes.
“No I didn’t expect it this weekend, but me and Kenny (Vandueren) worked so hard for this and I didn’t expect it would be now but I expected it one day. I’m just super happy to make it happen. I was shaking so much, I was so nervous.”
Preparation has been key to his progress. The combination of race experience and winter training has clearly paid off.
“For sure, last year in Sweden helped me, you gain experience every time you go racing so for sure it helped me a lot. We went to Italy in the winter we went back there to train as much as possible. I enjoy it a lot, the weather is good and the team is good I’m happy.”
Now part of a factory effort, Thorius is making the most of the opportunity – it’s a chance he is determined to repay.
“No, I didn’t expect to be a factory rider but I also delivered some good results. I’m just super happy they offered me a ride. I delivered this weekend so that’s good. I don’t know if I expected it but I’m super happy that I can be here.”

Working alongside experienced figures like Michele Cervellin is also accelerating his development.
“Michele Cervellin is super good. You know, he has a lot of experience so I just learn as much as I can from him and everyday training.”
Looking ahead, Thorius isn’t afraid to set his sights high. With the pace already proven, consistency will be the next step.
“If I can stay like this, yes for sure I can challenge. I know I have the speed if I get a good start so I would say I can challenge for the championship.”
The challenging track conditions made his performance even more impressive. Despite preferring different terrain, he adapted well.
“The track was definitely not easy, it was so rough. There were sharp bumps everywhere but I managed to hold on and keep the rhythm – it was good. For me, I’m more a hard pack rider, we have more hard pack in Denmark and that’s where I come from so for me hard pack is better.”
Like many young Danish riders, Thorius grew up looking up to established Danish names.
“I looked up to them (Mikkel Haarup and Thomas Kjer Olsen) a lot when I was a kid of course. Now that I’ve gotten older, I started also training with them and also Thomas so we learn together every time we go riding and improve every day.”
In conclusion, Thorius’ EMX125 Fantic debut couldn’t have gone much better. From a charge through the pack in race one to a strong race win in race two, he showcased both determination and raw speed. Backed by a strong team and growing confidence, the Danish prospect has already proven he belongs at the front—and if he can keep this momentum going, he could quickly become a genuine title contender.
