Speaking on the AC JB podcast, Hunter Lawrence admits he has been irritated by the conspiracy theorists trying to say Jett helped him win the title, despite the fact Jett was riding after aggravating his ankle in practice and moto one, limiting his potential.
Hunter said: “To see so many people questioning it thinking, you know, it’s rigged or whatever, was really pissing me off, honestly. So I was mad all Sunday because I know what I’ve gone through, I know what Jett is going through with his ankle, you know? That’s he’s questioning things right now and he was down the dumps as well. On the day that he needed his body, you know the most this season but he wasn’t able to lean on it and do what he needed to do, clearly. I’ve been in that position on days in my career, let alone a 450 title day.”
When you have overcome so much and reached such an elite level to be in position to win the title, you can understand how frustrating it would be to have people doubt the legitimacy of your title and the legitimacy of Jett’s ankle pain. When you win a title, the day after should be a celebration of a lifelong dream, not frustration at the naysayers. But history shows Hunter is the champ and he also won the most motos over the 11 round campaign. He earned it.
