With Chase Sexton’s KTM career ending in a huge crash as he got launched to Kawasaki two weeks earlier than anticipated, it leaves KTM looking for someone to fill the shoes of the very fast American that came so close to winning KTM a supercross title this season on the back of his 2024 AMA 450 outdoor championship.
And that vacant spot will be taken over by the legend, Eli Tomac, in 2026 – not a bad replacement! So how will the man who has won AMA titles on Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha, fair in the twilight of his career on a steel framed machine backed by a team that only care about winning and work ethic.
If Tomac can adapt to the bike, it’s seems the mentality of the the KTM team will fit the mentality of Eli Tomac, work hard and perform.
Adam Cianciarulo and Justin Brayton have given their view on the move with Brayton not convinced, saying: “I’m nervous AC, I wish he was staying on Yamaha. I know it can happen I know there’s no money trees down at the old goat farm star Yamaha facility now, I know there’s budgets I wish he was staying and I just I don’t know if I like this move to KTM. Look, I know it was maybe the only option, I get it, KTM is a great team.”
“I have a lot of respect for Ian Harrison I think he’s a great dude. Anytime I talk to him, I wish I rode for him back in the day. But if you just look at it for one, he’s a cable clutch guy. Now, are they gonna put a cable clutch on that bike?“
