The Riley Yamaha Racing team have confirmed they’ve agreed a deal with Håkon Fredriksen to bring him back to the team for the 2023 season. The team and rider are already familiar with each other after spending the 2021 season together contesting the EMX250 series.
Fredriksen finished fifth in the EMX250 series in 2021 with plenty of podium rides but for the 2023 season the team are delighted to have him race the MX2 World Championship.
Håkon Fredriksen: I’m really excited to tell you that I’ll be back with Riley Racing, it’s like being back home! I’m confident that this is the right move for me as I really like the bike, the people and structure of the team. We are all super motivated and ready to put in the hard work to continue our success we had in 2021. It’s going to be a race against the clock to line up in Argentina because of my arm. I got the green light to ride from the doctor in Norway, but after seeing more specialists we found out It’s not fully healed. I need to let my arm rest a few more weeks. The good thing is that I got to ride quite a bit lately so I’ll be ready.
Olaf Haazen (team owner): We are proud to have signed Hakon Fredriksen for the 2023 season. Hakon is currently still recovering from his arm injury, this is taking more time than expected. We are positive that he can start training on the bike in about 6 weeks. We will do everything to line up at the MXGP of Argentina to start the season.
