Guadagnini on MXGP tracks – hard to pass!

After Jeffrey Herlings vented about getting a three place penalty for going off track in moto win, a penalty that cost him the overall win and even suggesting he understood more and more why GP riders want to go to the US, Mattia Guadagnini has also weighed in after his crash and injury cost him his MXoN spot this weekend, replaced by Alberto Forato.

Herlings said: “What the FIM did today to me is not acceptable. Yes, I got pushed out of the track, but to dock me three places and to take away my overall like this… They said, ‘we want you to pay 650 euro but we will not change the result.’

Mixed feelings about today, I feel like this GP got stolen from me but still ended up with P3. That off track excursion in moto 1, 2nd turn didn’t bring me any benefit, no places won, and I tried to enter the track on the most safe spot where I could. Even though that wasn’t easy as I had to go over electric cables, water hosts, rocks etc etc which were 1 meter next to the track. Better focus on the safety first I would say. 🫡 I understand every day more and more why many top riders go and race @promotocross 🫡”

Herlings had said in the press conference: “What is this? Is this a motocross track or a club meeting?”

Guadagnini then said on social media: “Three quarters of the GP’s are on tracks where you can’t pass….I think the US guys make fun of us when they see our races on TV.” See his full statement below:
