Gajser on a rough day in China – loses red plate

Tim Gajser saw a 14 point lead turn into a 7 point deficit heading into the find round of MXGP in Spain in two weeks time.

Gajser crashed twice in race one and had a bent footpeg meaning he only took 17th place in the opening moto. In race two he had leader Prado in his sights the wholevway but couldn’t make the pass and now it’s the Gonda that rider playing catch up with one to go.

Gajser said: After having such a consistent season, to have a day like today at such a crucial time is hard to take. To lose the championship red-plate with one round left is definitely not what I wanted to happen and now I know that with three races to go, I have to win them all. It isn’t an ideal situation but I will keep fighting and give my all until the very end.
