Jett Lawrence set the pace during free practice in Anaheim but only put in the best lap on his last attempt after languishing in 11. Eli Tomac was second and Malcolm Stewart third. Chase Sexton was seventh with Jorge Prado posting the ninth quickest time just over a second off the pace.
In the 250SX class it was RJ Hampshire who set the pace ahead Jordon Smith.
