EXCL: Petar Petrov to put more focus on his race team in 2024

Petar Petrov is one rider that knows plenty about the sport as he’s been part of the GP paddock since he was fifteen years old racing the MX2 World Championship. The Bulgarian has been a constant in the paddock throughout that time under many awnings and even being part of the factory Kawasaki and Suzuki setups during his time in MX2.

In 2023, Petrov was a privateer and whilst he wasn’t a fulltime MXGP rider he did contest selected rounds for his own team. For the 2024 season, Petrov has the same sort of plan to race selected MXGP events.

However, Petrov who clearly loves the sport will put more focus into his own team – he will run it alongside a colleague and will likely sign up some riders for the 2024 season. An MX2 World Championship rider is expected to sign with the team to contest the European rounds of the series and Petrov is also on the look out for an EMX250 rider. The name of the team is still to be decided at this stage.

The team are likely to run KTM machinery and the setup of the team is expected to be bigger for the 2024 season which is good news for the sport.

Hopefully the team can have success and grow in the future.

“I am really excited for this new project. It is going to be a change for me as manager of the team but I will continue to ride so it’s something I am really looking forward too. Also being about to work with young riders and help them with the experience I have. I am looking forward to the winter preparation and hopefully to having a great 2024”, Petrov told GateDrop.com.
