After missing the entire 2024 season due to injury, Janis Reišulis has wasted no time reminding everyone of his immense talent. The young Latvian has made an impressive start to the 2025 EMX250 Championship, proving that his pace remains as strong as ever.
Through the first two rounds of the series, the VHR VRT Yamaha rider sits second in the championship standings, just a single point behind Adrien Petit. While crashes in the second moto at Cozar cost him valuable points, it has still been a highly encouraging start to the season.
Beyond his EMX250 campaign, Reišulis has exciting plans to step up to the MX2 World Championship for two wildcard appearances this year. He will race at the German GP in Teutschenthal and the Belgian GP in Lommel, both rounds that do not clash with the EMX250 calendar. These outings will provide a valuable opportunity to gain experience at the next level while facing elite competition.
Speaking about his MX2 plans, Reišulis shared his enthusiasm:
“For this year I plan to go to the Teutschenthal GP in Germany and also Lommel in Belgium. I think that’s going to be a lot of fun, because you know, less pressure, I’m not going to be fighting for the championship. Maybe I can fight for some good positions and get used to the big speed and also with more aggressive riding.”
These wildcard races will not only allow Reišulis to test himself against MX2 regulars but will also offer the exciting prospect of battling on track with his older brother, Karlis. As the younger Reišulis continues his rapid development, these MX2 appearances could serve as a preview of what’s to come in the future.
For now, the focus remains on the EMX250 championship, where Janis is very much in the title fight. With his confidence building and his speed evident, it will be intriguing to see how his season unfolds.
