When Glenn Coldenhoff signed a two-year deal with Factory Fantic Racing ahead of the 2024 season, many assumed it could be the final chapter of his illustrious MXGP career. But as the 2025 campaign unfolds, the Dutch rider is proving that he’s far from done—and in fact, he might just be getting better with age.

Now in his second year with the Italian manufacturer, Coldenhoff has been in sublime form. It’s been his strongest start to an MXGP season to date, consistently running at the front and currently sitting fourth in the World Championship standings. At 34 years old, some expected him to hang up his boots at the end of this contract, but for now he has other ideas.

“I’m 34, but I feel like I still have a few years in me,” Coldenhoff told GateDrop.com. “As long as I can keep taking some podiums and hopefully this year some wins will come as well. And yeah, we’ll definitely keep on going.”

A key part of his strong performances this year has been the significant progress made by the Fantic team. After a learning year in 2024, the manufacturer has clearly stepped things up in 2025—something Coldenhoff is quick to acknowledge.

“I think, you know, based on comments also from last year, they have been working really, really hard and improving. We start working with some good data. We have a few very good guys inside the team, some guys in Bergeijk (in the Netherlands) and also the factory in Fantic. And it seems like, you know, like already last year, halfway through the season, we started to work really as one team.”

The improved cohesion and technical direction has been key, and Coldenhoff feels the results on track are a clear reflection of that behind-the-scenes effort.

“I think you can see this year on myself that it’s working great. Even now, I still give comments to the team to improve the bike even more and they are listening and at the same time they understand what I’m looking for. I think that’s very important to have technical people who also understand what you need and they just continue working on that. Hopefully soon we have another update.”

It’s fantastic news for both his fans and the sport in general. Coldenhoff’s experience, professionalism, and speed have been key factors in Fantic’s growing presence in the MXGP paddock, and his continued presence will be a huge boost moving forward.

With podiums already under his belt and the potential for race wins still on the table, the “Hoff” looks set to keep the momentum rolling—and keep the gate drops coming—for a while yet.
