Cole McCullough has been put in a number of impressive riders in the EMX125 championship so far this season, but we can reveal the young Northern Irish rider has parted ways with the Italian-based DreamTeam Fantic Racing squad.
McCullough impressed in the early rounds of the 2025 campaign, securing his first EMX125 podium at Riola Sardo before claiming a maiden race win at the iconic Arco di Trento circuit. However, despite the positive results on track, his time with the team has come to an abrupt end.
We understand that McCullough was informed by the team that they would not be returning to the GP paddock for the remainder of the season, starting with the German round at the weekend.
As a result, McCullough has reverted back to his privateer setup—something he is all too familiar with from previous years. Unless a new opportunity arises, he is expected to complete the season with his privateer setup.
To add to the challenging situation, McCullough has also been dealing with a wrist injury sustained in Portugal. Despite continuing to race through some pain, another crash in Germany has prompted the decision for him to sit out this weekend’s EMX125 round in Latvia.
McCullough will now consult with specialists to determine the best course of action regarding his wrist. There is hope that he will be fit to return at the British round of the series at Matterley Basin, but a final decision on his comeback will depend on how his recovery progresses in the coming weeks.
It’s been a rollercoaster year for McCullough so far, and all eyes will be on the talented young rider to see how he bounces back from this latest setback.
