Cas Valk is in his second season contesting the EMX250 championship but this year is only his first year racing a four-stroke. Being with the Fantic setup in 2024, Valk raced a two-stroke in the EMX250 series.
This year Valk signed a deal with the Gabriel SS24 KTM team where he has Shaun Simpson as a team manager and is also working with Joel Smets as a coach. The season is going well for Valk as he challenges for the EMX250 championship – he sits 13 points behind Mathis Valin in the standings. With four rounds still to go there’s still plenty to play for.
Valk knows how to win titles as he has Dutch titles to his name but in 2022 he also won the EMX125 title and will be hoping to add the EMX250 title to his name. This year, Valk is also racing the British Championship which he currently leads after overtaking Jack Chambers at Hawkstone Park – with two rounds to go and an eight points lead he has a good chance of the British title too.
Ahead of 2025, we asked Valk about his plans and he confirmed he’ll be racing the MX2 World Championship but couldn’t say much more…
“Yeah, for sure MX2 next year, and more I cannot say at the moment yet”, Valk told GateDrop.com.Â
As the Gabriel SS24 KTM team don’t currently run an MX2 GP rider it is likely that Valk will be on the move for the 2025 season but we’ll update you as we hear more regarding his future.
Shaun Simpson has enjoyed working with the young Dutch talent and was full of praise for Valk when we spoke to him after Hawkstone International at the start of the season…
“Cas is only 18 but it’s great to see that he’s got such a strong head on the shoulders. He is very dedicated and does all his training and everything that is asked of him. Working with Joel, he is loving that because he has been out riding with Andrea Adamo most of the days (during winter). Riding together with him has brought him on as well. He is a good kid, has a nice style and doesn’t hang off it too much. He is very smooth and you don’t sort of have to close your eyes when watching him. Very smooth and calculated which is great”, Simpson told GateDrop.com.
