This weekend, the world’s best young motocross riders will gather in France, at the Romagne track, to determine this year’s Junior Motocross World Champions. Estonia will also be present with its junior national team, which consists of 11 young athletes competing in the 65cc, 85cc, and 125cc classes.
The competition will be preceded by a training day on Thursday, where the young riders will be guided by the experienced Tanel Leok.
On Friday, the official presentation of the riders and teams will take place, and on Saturday morning the qualification races will begin. The entire event can be followed live on mxgp-tv.com.
In the youngest category, the 65cc class, Estonia is represented by Laur Kallikorm #659, Mattias Asi #640, Aston Kõiv #626, Martin-Markus Ansi #661, and Evar Mark #27. For many of them, this is their first time on such a big stage, so the focus is more on gaining experience than on results.
In the 85cc class, Estonia also has a strong lineup. Lucas Leok #111 is the most experienced in this age group, having won the silver medal at the same World Championship last year. His main competitors will be fast riders from France and Italy, who are used to hard-packed tracks. Gregor Lootus #709 has also shown good form in international competitions this year—he finished third at the Dutch national championship in the spring, in a very competitive field. Also racing in this class are Robin Robert Mooses #683, Enri Lustus #742, and Johann Hansman #797—all ambitious young riders who have already stood out in both the Estonian championship and ADAC MX Masters, and now get a chance to prove themselves on a big stage.
In the 125cc class, Kaspar Uibu #784 will represent Estonia. He recently won the latest round of the Estonian Championship in Tihemetsa, and this event will be a valuable experience in a very competitive class.
We wish all young riders confidence, a good feeling on the track, and lots of great experience!
