Italian rider Nicholas Lapucci is set to make his AMA Pro Motocross debut this weekend at the opening round of the 2025 championship, held at Fox Raceway in Pala, California.
So far this season, Lapucci has been focused on the domestic scene, competing in the Italian Championship where he currently sits fourth in the MX1 championship standings after four rounds. He also made a wildcard appearance in the MXGP World Championship at his home Grand Prix in Arco di Trento, going 23-21 in the motos.
Following the latest round of the Italian series at the weekend weekend, Lapucci has wasted no time in making the trip to the USA.
He’ll be lining up under the ISRT Kawasaki awning for the Pro Motocross opener, joining Swedish rider Fredrik Noren on the team.
At this stage, the plan is for Lapucci to contest only the first round at Pala. However, the Italian is hopeful that a strong performance could open the door to additional opportunities in the prestigious American outdoor series.
“I was able to figure it out with the ISRT Kawasaki team. I’m super excited to be in Pala without any expectations. It’s just to have some fun and to make experience in a new country. It is a new championship for me and let’s see if I can get an opportunity for the future because I would like to be full time racing here. For the moment I will be only race in Pala. I hope to make a good result to maybe change the plan”, Lapucci told GateDrop.com.
It’s a bold move for the former EMX250 champion, who has long shown flashes of speed on the international stage, and he’ll be aiming to make a statement against some of the best riders in the world when the gate drops at Fox Raceway.
