Lewis Phillips caught up with Chase Sexton on press day at Detroit and the Kawasaki rider who won A2 says he has been back on the bike two weeks but hasn’t made a lot of changes to the machine!
Chase told Lewis: “I’m happy to be back, happy to be racing again. I only missed three races, but it feels like it was a lot longer than that. So yeah, nice to be back. We’ll see how it goes. I like Detroit, big stadium and yeah, vibe’s good.
“I crashed Wednesday before Daytona. And I actually was feeling pretty, pretty good – the best I’d felt all year. And then had a weird crash coming out of the whoops, the bike steps sideways, and I tried to correct it, and it threw me off into the next jump. I couldn’t really walk too well for a week. I bruised my sacrum. So like right above your butt basically and it went into my hips, and it was just, it wasn’t very good. But after a week or so, it cleared up pretty good. I started riding two and a half weeks after, and yeah, I have two weeks on the bike.

“So I didn’t just take off a lot of time from racing just for just for the fun of it. Obviously, I didn’t come back, I could have came back last weekend. But at this point, I want to come back as prepared as possible. So that’s this weekend.
“But to be honest, the bikes pretty much the same. Not a lot of improvements, I would say. So I had to really work on myself and try and overcome what I can do on the bike and we’ll see how it goes this weekend.”
