Brent van Doninck’s bikes are already in China but it has been revealed that the Belgian will not be able to travel and race this weekend at the penultimate round of the MXGP World Championship.
The Belgian has Covid and as a result isn’t allowed to travel which is a blow and a costly one for the JM Honda team with bikes having already made the travel.
The plan for Van Doninck will be to race the MXGP finale at Spain.
The team provided the following statement:
JM Racing Honda’s Brent van Doninck will not participate in the MXGP of China this weekend. Upon his return to the Belgium, it was determined that Van Doninck has corona, which meant that he was not allowed to fly to China this week.
For van Doninck and the JM Racing Honda team, this is a big disappointment because the bikes are already in China and the flights and hotels have been booked.
Things are not going well for Doninck in the world championship at the moment. After a strong return to the championship with good results, van Doninck recently had to retire from the race in Switzerland after a crash at the start in the qualifying heat. Last weekend he couldn’t find his flow in Turkey and now he has to miss the race in China. When van Doninck is recovered, he will start preparing for the last Grand Prix of the season in Spain!
