An emotional Brent Duffe has had his last day working for Haiden Deegan at the GOAT farm he he prepares for an emotional final race with Deegan in SMX this weekend before moving on to what is rumoured to be a job in F1.
Speaking on the Deegan’s YouTube channel Brent said he would like to go out with a win this weekend and will be catching A1 as a fan hoping to see Haiden win:
“Last day. That’s crazy. I went through a lot of stuff to get ready for Branson, depending on what the hybrid track’s going to be like, and got some good settings. You always want to be ready for these SMX tracks. You don’t really know if they’re going to be supercross or motocross.
“So, yeah, I went through a lot of stuff and have a couple options in the back pocket. It would be nice to go out with a win and if you’re coming in in like a must-win situation, you do what it takes to win. Haiden’s never been afraid to work, and, you know, today put in some work and found some good stuff, man.
“It should pay off, so we’re good. We’re ready to go racing, ready for the weekend. I’m taking the bike apart right now, and I’m going to take it all the way apart. We are done practicing here at the farm. That’s it. I know after SMX, he’s going to take like a month off, let his body recover, get into some boot camp and start training for, you know, like a supercross pre-season.
“So next time he rides his bike, it’ll be with a different mechanic. So I’m going to get a couple bikes ready for him before I head out, but, yeah, step one is get this thing all cleaned up right now, tear it apart, and then after the race this weekend, I’ll still stick around for about a month here at the farm just to make sure everything’s ready. And when I leave, I’m going to have three identical 450s in his area ready for him, make sure all of his wheels are fresh, a bunch of prep parts, all the spares.
“Just going to have everything ready for the next guy because I know what it’s like to be a mechanic stepping into a new team, so I would appreciate if someone had a bunch of stuff ready for me. So that’s what I want to do. When I have everything ready, I want Hayden to have the best free season he can because when I watch A1, I want to see him win.
“I’m a fan now after this weekend, so. I’ll be watching every Saturday. You might see me at some races on Saturdays. I’ll try to stop in and say hi here and there. I don’t know when, but right now all I know for the future is try to win this thing and go out with a bang and then see what life has to offer.
“Thanks for following along, and for everyone that’s reached out to me and said congrats to everyone that’s followed me. It’s been really cool being a part of something so special. Haiden’s fans are awesome, man. They back him so hard, and I feel the love from them. I have for four years. It was a special program to be a part of, the hard decision to walk away, but there’s more to life than dirt bikes, so I’m going to go discover that life.”
