Barcia, Anderson, Plessinger crashes at Charlotte SMX

Justin Barcia had a hard crash in free practice at Charlotte after he barely clipped the tuff blocks in a rhythm section and Josh Hill has suggested they use a different shape of tuff block in the future, especially with SMX tracks being faster than regular supercross events.

Josh Hill said on Instagram: “Hope @justinbarcia is ok after he grazed this tuff block and it took him down pretty hard. I would love to see these things changed to triangle shape. Every time you touch one it’s a roll of the dice how it and your bike will react. Add that to the speeds that have increased at these SMX races, while the width of track has not increased, it could make a difference. This is not at all a shot at the promoters, Feld is unmatched in its professionalism, and they put on the best racing events in the world in my opinion. But there’s always room for improvements as the sport evolves. Just my 2 cents from the sidelines today.”

Barcia wasn’t the only one to hit the deck with Stewart, Anderson and Plessinger going down off the start – should there be start practice like MXGP and AMA outdoors for safety?
