Revealed: Gyan Doensen sees plans fall through – currently no ride for 2027

Gyan Doensen had been hoping to make the step up to the MX2 World Championship for the 2027 season and was close to securing a deal with a team to make the move up from the EMX250 series. However, those plans have now fallen through, leaving the young Dutch talent without a ride for next year.

Doensen enjoyed a solid 2026 campaign in the EMX250 series, finishing fourth in the championship. While he would have been hoping for more, the Dutchman showed plenty of potential throughout the season, securing multiple podium finishes and demonstrating that he has the speed to compete at the front.

Moving on from Gabriel SS24 KTM

Doensen has spent the past two seasons with the Gabriel SS24 KTM team, working under the watchful eye of former Grand Prix rider and winner Shaun Simpson.

The team recently announced on social media that they would be parting ways with Doensen ahead of the 2027 season, bringing an end to their two-year partnership.

With a move to MX2 having looked like a real possibility, the news is a setback for the Dutch rider as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Uncertain future

Doensen’s plans for the 2027 season are now uncertain, with no signed contract currently in place. Despite the disappointment, the Dutchman remains highly motivated and determined to compete at the highest level.

Given the potential he has shown in the EMX250 class, it would be a shame not to see him make the step up to the MX2 World Championship next season.

Hopefully, Doensen can get a deal sorted in the coming weeks and secure a place to take on the MX2 World Championship in 2027.

Gyan Doensen:

“Unfortunately, my original plans for the 2027 season will no longer move forward. While this is an unexpected setback, my ambition and determination to pursue my dream remain stronger than ever. I remain fully committed to continuing my journey and exploring new opportunities to compete at the highest level. I am therefore open to discussions with teams that may still have an available position for the 2027 season. Interested parties are welcome to contact me at info@gyandoensen.com.”
