Confirmed: Kay de Wolf to make his return to racing in Spain

After picking up a thumb injury, Kay de Wolf sadly couldn’t make it to the opening round of the MXGP World Championship, which took place in Bariloche, Argentina.

The Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing rider was also a doubt for round two in Spain, but it has now been confirmed that the talented Dutchman will make his return to racing this weekend. While he isn’t expected to be at 100 percent fitness, it will still be great to see him back behind the gate as he prepares to make his MXGP debut.

The sandy circuit in Almonte should actually play into De Wolf’s strengths. Known for his ability in deep sand, the conditions may help him settle into the premier class despite the injury.

It will certainly be fascinating to see where De Wolf fits in among the elite of the MXGP class, with the field stacked with talent including Romain Febvre, Lucas Coenen, Tom Vialle and Jeffrey Herlings. With so much quality on the gate, the competition is fierce, but De Wolf’s return will undoubtedly add another exciting storyline to the weekend in Spain.
