After months off the bike due to a broken leg, Eli Tomac came back with speed to burn and a point to prove at Fox Raceway. After a solid fourth in moto one, Tomac showed what he could do with a better start in race two and stuck to Jett’s back wheel for 30 minutes, leaving the crowd enthralled watching the two generations of generational riders with vastly contrasting riding styles battle for the win. These are the moments fans and both riders will never forget.
Tomac said of his return: “I guess the good thing is I had enough time to be ready for round one so that was that was good thing. I wasn’t in a rush, wasn’t really like having to rush back to anything. I knew trying to race the last couple supercross that was a little bit hopeful but anyway stay focused on motocross kind of knew the timeline and end up working out like I felt pretty strong all day so especially recovering from an injury but it was it was good I just I look back on the day I like wish I would have done a couple things different moto one, but always trying to learn even at this at this age.
And on his battle with Jett Eli commented: “I wish I was there moto one, but moto two like we both had our strong areas on the track, so that was it was interesting to ride behind Jett. I mean unfortunately for me I was behind him the whole time but it was it was a good learning experience for me see his lines to see his style, it was a good battle for about 30 minutes.”
Now that Tomac has got to see Jett for a full 30 minutes, will he have even more at Hangtown, a track he usually excels, too push Jett even more? Let’s see…
