Race One: With conditions so tough, a good start was important and it was Ruben Fernandez and Glenn Coldenhoff leading the way. Tim Gajser was right there though and didn’t take long to make two quick passes and put on a clinic of how to ride the mud. Honda HRC will be happy going 1-2.
Calvin Vlaanderen rode well to overtake Glenn Coldenhoff for third. Kevin Horgmo was lonely in fifth the entire race but was solid.
Lucas Coenen went down at the start and Maxime Renaux was involved so both had to come through the pack. They both got back to ninth and tenth respectively.
Febvre had a bad start and could only manage seventh behind the impressive Gifting.
Race Two: Gajser didn’t get a good start but he quickly got to the lead and dominated proceedings on his Honda HRC machine to take his 50th GP overall win. Fernandez took a good start in and around the top three but then crashed on the second corner – he was able to get back to twelfth but it wasn’t enough for a podium.
It was a strong race for the Fantic’s as they finished second, third and fourth with Andrea Bonacorsi getting the better of his two team mates – he ended on up the podium in third overall behind Glenn Coldenhoff.
Tim Gajser has the championship lead heading to round three and a twenty points lead.
