We recently caught up with Conrad Mewse to discuss a range of topics and one thing we asked him about was the possibility of racing an AMA National round in 2025 after his recent Instagram post (see below).
We recently asked the man himself about the chances of it happening…
On the prospect of racing an AMA National in 2025…Â
Weâre in talks, weâre in talks, I canât say nothing yet. It might not happen you know, weâre definitely pushing for it, whether it works out or not I donât know, but thatâs something I 110% want to do this year. If it doesnât happen this year I think itâll almost definitely happen next year.
On if he’ll race many MXGP rounds, it depends on how many AMA Nationals he’ll contest if he does make the trip over to America…Â
Yeah definitely. I mean that again, that all depends on whether we do AMA rounds or not, really.
I think if we were to go out there (to America) that it would be silly to just do one. If I was to go out there Iâd look for a couple on the bounce which work in my calendar. If I donât do the AMA Nationals, Iâll be doing some GPs, if I donât do GPâs, Iâll be doing some AMA Nationals. Iâll 100% be doing one of those options but which one that is yet we havenât quite worked out which one itâs going to be and which works with the team.
On getting more races in outside of the UK with the best riders in the world…Â
Yes and no, I mean like I said to you just then, I spend my whole year in Belgium and Holland riding with good guys, so Iâm always pushing for that level and the competitionâs good in the British. Youâve got Josh (Gilbert) and things like that and thatâs one thing Iâve never done in my career and thatâs look over people. If it happens to be that I win a British Championship by a long way, then I want more, you knowâĤ If I win by twenty-five seconds, I want thirty seconds, if I win by thirty seconds I want thirty five seconds. Iâm always pushing myself, no matter what and regardless of the competition. It is the same as with Jeffrey in the last round, I didnât settle for just beating him in that first race, I tried to go as far as I could and that was what Iâd done. I feel like Iâm quite self-motivated like that, but yeah, overall Iâm just happy and itâs going good so far.
