Race One: Justin Barcia took the holeshot but Chase Sexton quickly took the lead and checked out but Jett Lawrence wasn’t having the same success. Jett was seventh and battling with Ken Roczen for sixth with Roczen passing him in an intense battle as Lawrence looked to lose his rhythm, get passed by Anderson then crashed eventually finishing seventh with a last lap pass on Webb as Roczen went through the field to third, just behind Ferrandis who was strong in second.
Race Two: Ken Roczen quickly took the lead and set a blistering pace to get a four second gap by the time Chase Sexton passed holeshot man Masterpool for second. Meanwhile Jett Lawrence had another bad start but, with softer suspension, the real Jett was on show! Lawrence was on a tear through the field and, once he got to third he set his sights on Sexton and that’s when Sexton upped his pace.
The trio were on another level of pace as Chase caught Roczen and made the pass for the lead. When Lawrence got into second he still had a 5 second gap with two laps to go and Sexton went 1-1 to end the Jett winning streak. Sexton had a point to prove and he proved it.
Sexton: “I was in the zone today. I know what I’m capable of, and when I got on my supercross suspension I knew what I could do.”
Lawrence said: Wasn’t good day. The boys were putting the whole package together. The first one I put too much supercross in (the bike). The second one I felt better. I need to work on those damn starts.”
