450cc race results: AMA Nationals RD4 – High Point – Lawrence holds Roczen at bay!

Race One: Ken Roczen gave Jett Lawrence all he could handle in race one with Jett falling out of the lead after Roczen came from fifth to second on the opening lap and got the gap to within 2 seconds when Jett got cross rutted and went down!

Lawrence dropped briefly to third behind the impressive Marchbanks but once in second had five seconds to catch on Roczen and he did just that!

Lawrence made the move but Roczen countered before Lawrence leapt past, this time it was enough to secure the lead, but Ken Roczen wasn’t done and was pressuring Jett with two laps to go when he crashed then couldn’t get the bike started! An exhausted and frustrated Roczen kept kicking and eventually got going in eighth, finishing seventh, not a result that tells the story of the race!

But with only two days testing outdoors pushed Jett more than he has been all year and Roczen’s dad also spent time training Jett in Europe!

Race Two: Ken Roczen took the holeshot with Jett starting fifth and the race was on! Roczen pulled out a ten second lead on Lawrence who was quickly into third but Adam Ciancuarulo was on the gas and staying with Roczen! Halfway into the race and Lawrence found his groove and dropped the lap time, catching and passing Ciancuarulo then setting his sights on Roczen!

With five minutes to go Lawrence, using better lines made the move and took the lead but Roczen learned the lines and with three laps to go was still under two seconds back until backmarkers refused to move over fir Roczen, the gap going up to five and Lawrence sealing another 1-1 and his eighth win on a row – still undefeated!
